Welcome Legacy Park Sharks!

Welcome Legacy Park swimmers and families! The weather is getting warmer and swim team season is just around the corner. We are excited to see the sharks in the water! Please review the following information for important updates on the Legacy Park Sharks.

Coaches: This year we have two head coaches:Thomas Locke and Kelly Riedesel. Both Thomas and Kelly have been shark swimmers for many seasons and have previously served as Junior Coaches for the Legacy Park Sharks. We are excited to have Madison Arnold and Tucker Hall return for another season as Junior Coaches for our team. Experienced swimmers Rylan Kelly and Erin Bryant will be Peer Coaches this year and will provide assistance to our younger swimmers. It’s going to be a great season!

Practice schedule: The coaches have reviewed the number of swimmers in each age group and have finalized the practice schedule. All practices and home meets will be held at the Legacy Park main pool.

Meet Volunteer Requirements: Currently, there are 92 swimmers registered and a total of 61 families. To run a home meet, we need about 60 volunteers from our team. We need about 30 volunteers for an away meet. In order for the meets to run smoothly and be adequately staffed, each family is asked to work 3 meet halves this year. Please note this is per family and not per swimmer.Thank you in advance for supporting your swimmer and helping the meets run smoothly. Please sign-up to volunteer on our website

*The meet requirement does not include the LP vs. LP meet on June 8. Once the details of this meet are finalized, we will let you know if we need volunteers. Thank you!

Non-Meet Volunteer Requirements: The swim team has several opportunities to earn money for our team during the swim season and we need your help. We ask each family to volunteer for 2 “non-meet” events. Non-meet events include newsletter stuffing and delivery, Memorial Day concessions and pool parties. Many of you have already signed up to volunteer at these events. Thank you for your help! At the end of the swim season, if you have completed this requirement, your $100 deposit check will be shredded.

Parent Orientation: A parent informational session will be held on Thursday, May 5 at 6:00 p.m. at the Legacy Park Clubhouse. Please join us to learn more about swim practice, training equipment, volunteer job descriptions, what to expect at a swim meet and more. This is a great meeting for parents new to the swim team.

Meet Schedule: Our meets will be held on Wednesday this year. There are 4 “official” swim meets. All meets will begin promptly at 6 p.m., but swimmers are asked to arrive early to check-in with the coaches and warm up. Warm-up times are generally 5:00 for home meets and 5:30 for away meets. Our meet schedule is as follows:

June 1: Away meet vs. Saddlebrook

June 8: No official meet. We will have a fun LP vs. LP meet instead. Stay tuned for more details!

June 15: Home meet vs. Heritage Oaks

June 22: Home meet vs. Marietta Country Club

June 29: Away meet vs. West Hampton
